Most men are embarrassing, not just boyfriends

The real embarrassment comes from our own failings

I don’t want to sound like a petty bitch, but I am in fact a petty bitch, and I have never, not once, let anything go. Elsa might be a pro at it, but I am taking a grudge, wrapping it in silk and feathers, and singing it a lullaby to sleep every night. So, you best believe that while everyone is talking about that Vogue article, the one about boyfriends being embarrassing, I am sitting here, flicking my hair back and forth, saying, ‘I told you so.’

For many years, I have proposed that we stop posting pictures and videos of boyfriends, husbands, proposal videos, wedding pictures, or anything else that pertains to coupling up with a man. If I so much as see a bio with ‘Wife to @insert-generic-man-Instagram-handle,’ I break out in hives. The whole thing is abhorrent to me. In 2023, I posted, once again, about this, and the comments still fascinate me. The rage and fury that some people feel when I suggest that we don’t make men the center of our universe will forever surprise me. Which is why the reaction to the Vogue article, also suggesting the very same thing which I have been suggesting for many years now, (yes, I will keep pointing that out), is so interesting.

You could argue it’s all about timing, and perhaps straight women are ready to hear the message now, but I don’t think that’s it.
