I’ve spent a long time deliberating whether or not, as an ardent feminist, I can inject things into my face to make it look better. I’ve also dragged almost everyone I know into the debate because my research skills are impeccable, and I like gathering as much data as possible. I’ve asked feminists what they think, would they ever get tweakments, have they had Botox, and most importantly, do they still feel like they can call themselves a feminist if they actively spend money buying into the notion that youth is prized and flawless skin makes you worthy.
Previously, I’ve never given Botox much thought. I think I look great and I don’t want to look like everyone else. But then I started hosting a Breakfast Show and no matter how much water you drink in a day, getting up at 4 am every morning ruins you. Your health, your sanity, and your face. The bags under my eyes hang down by my ankles and even the sleep I manage to catch up on over the weekend can’t ease the puffy eyes and sallow skin.
So, I started looking into what I could inject to get rid of the bags. What serum could I place directly into my tired face to rejuvenate it? How could I look like someone who is well-rested when in truth I am sleep-deprived most days?
